Privacy Rating (how spacious and private do the sites feel):
3.0/5: Riverbend's sites are lined up parallel with one another to face the river. Site spacing was decent, but could be inconsistent. There are trees mixed in which helps provide a sense of separation. Most guests with riverfront sites set their chairs up in front of their RVs, close to the river. The non riverfront sites weren't bad, but weren't quite as appealing. Given the small price difference, if you can get a waterfront site, it's probably worth it.
Location Rating (accessibility to points of interest or to major highways):
2.0/5: Riverbend RV Park is one of a handful of RV parks on the west side of North Cascades National Park. There just aren't many options in the area, so it's good to have something, but at the end of the day, the town is pretty remote and it takes a good 45 minutes to an hour to get anywhere inside the national park complex. You can find groceries in Twisp and other necessities, but it's pretty limited. There are no chain stores, large pharmacies, or other places people typically rely on for everyday conveniences. It definitely feels remote.
Site Quality and Big Rig Accessibility Rating (utilities and accessibility of campground hook ups):
4.0/5: Sites at Riverbend RV Park are mostly level, utilities worked well, and while the roads could be a bit tight, we didn't have any problems getting into or out of our spot. Sites are dirt/gravel.
Technology and Customer Service Rating (online resources, reservations, campground wifi, and staff):
4.0/5: I tried making my booking online, but couldn't get the system to work. I reached out via email and the owner said he'd give me a call, but never did. I followed up via phone and got everything all set up. He was very nice to deal with and friendly when we got there. The campground's wifi was good and we had no issues with our hotspot.
Overall Value Rating (the overall value of the campground; was it overpriced for what it was?):
5.0/5: We thought the value here was quite good. We paid $270 per week for a waterfront site about as close to North Cascades as we could get. We thought that was fair.
Summary:
Riverbend RV Park is one of the better options available for visitors looking to explore North Cascades National Park who also need or want internet connectivity (there are campgrounds within the national park, but there is zero cell service up there). Riverbend's sites are all lined up next to one another, but offer reasonable spacing and the waterfront sites offer direct access to the river. In our opinion, it is worth it to spring for an actual riverfront site. The price is only marginally higher and the views and water access are worth it. The campground also offers some large community spaces as well as a very large dog park. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it for others coming to the area.
